DL-panthenol is a racemic mixture of D- and L-panthenol, supplied by Brother Enterprises in two strengths: 99% and 50%. It is a cost-effective alternative to pure D-panthenol; the D-form is the biologically active one, converted into vitamin B5 in the skin. The ingredient moisturises skin and conditions hair, making it well suited to mass-market products where formula cost matters.
